Get To Know Chef Kevin and His Amazing Family

Drop by our restaurant, introduce yourself, stay awhile, enjoy a good meal, and become part of the family.

Our Story

Chef Kevin Christopher Allan Johnson was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. He appears to have the art of cooking flowing through his bloodline. Even at an exceptionally young age, Chef Kevin Christopher, or “KC” as his family loves to call him, knew he wanted to be a chef.

He was surrounded by cooking influences from both parents who were native to Louisiana and who grew up on Cajun, Creole, and good ole Southern cooking; a great grandfather who was a chef at a local country club in Shreveport, Louisiana; and a paternal grandmother, native to New Orleans, whose own passion for cooking was passed down to her son, Kevin J. Johnson as well.

Chef Kevin is from a military family, and they relocated from Little Rock AFB to Patrick AFB when he was 2 years old. They settled in at Patrick AFB, FL in 1993.

Kevin’s dad, Kevin J. Johnson, known fondly as “KJ” by members of the 71st Rescue Squadron at Patrick AFB, also anticipated opening a restaurant upon retirement from the military. Regrettably, Chef Kevin’s father died on June 25, 1996 in a terrorist attack at Khobar Towers in Dharan, Saudi Arabia.

This was a tremendous tragedy for the family. Incredibly, Chef Kevin’s mom, Shyrl, a talented and gifted educator and musical talent, was able to single-handedly raise her three sons Che’, Chef Kevin, and Nicholas into remarkable young adults. All the family stayed and remained in Florida despite that tragic experience.

Now, 25 years later, Chef Kevin is paying tribute to the two most important people in his life: his dad, Kevin J. Johnson, and his mom, Shyrl Lizette “Lady Tandy” Johnson.

With a grateful and humble heart, Chef Kevin C. Johnson is carrying on his dad’s dream, naming his company “For my Dad LLC” and honoring his mother by including her name “Lizette” in the restaurant’s brand trade name.

Believe it or not, that is just part of the story! So, come to Lizette’s Cajun Bistro in Melbourne, Florida, introduce yourself, stay awhile, enjoy a good meal, and become part of the family.

Make sure to catch the musical performances of Lady Tandy singing jazz, R&B, soul, and much more. It will be the great food, beautiful atmosphere, and music that will bring a blessing to your heart.

Thank you,

Kevin, Shyrl Lizette, Che’, and Nicky
